Kristen Aguirre

Kristen Aguirre joined WWMT in August 2022. You can catch her anchoring weekday mornings alongside Kirk Mason. Kristen is so excited to be back in the Midwest!

She has nearly 15 years of experience in the news industry. She’s worked across the country building her resume, previously covering news in Asheville, Denver, Flint and Quincy, Illinois. During her time in Flint, she received an Emmy nomination for her stories focusing on how the water crisis impacted the undocumented community. She was also awarded best anchor by the Associated Press.

Her experience also includes live on-air coverage of the terrorist attack at Bishop Airport in Flint. Kristen loves to focus on community-based journalism including shinning a light on BIPOC communities. She’s a fierce advocate for mental health support and disability rights.

Kristen is originally from the southside of Chicago and went to DePaul University, Go Blue Demons! She’s excited to be back in the mitten and close to family. She and her husband have two dogs a blue-heeler and a French bulldog who run their lives. When she’s not walking her dogs, you can catch her at the local hot yoga studio.
