Award-winning journalist Kate Tillotson anchors Newschannel 3 weeknights at 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m.

Kate is a two-time Michigan Emmy Award nominee. She was most recently nominated for her coverage of convicted serial child molester and former Michigan State University sports doctor Larry Nassar. During her time at WWMT-TV, Kate has reported from Washington, D.C., and live from the scene of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Before joining the station in 2007, Kate worked at WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia, and KCFW-TV in Kalispell, Montana. While in Augusta, Kate received two Georgia Associated Press awards for Best Feature Reporting and Best Investigative Reporting.

In 2012, Kate was honored as one of West Michigan’s Most Influential Women by Inforum, a professional women’s alliance with more than 1,800 members in Michigan.

Kate is a proud resident of Kalamazoo and is involved in several organizations and charities. She sits on the Board of Directors at Lakeside Academy, and the Ascension Borgess Foundation Board of Trustees. She’s also a member of the Downtown Kalamazoo Partnership Citizen Coalition Committee for Experience, the Next Gen Committee at Southwest Michigan First, and the Borgess Golf for Health Committee.

A western Massachusetts native, Kate began her broadcasting career as a college intern in Boston where she assisted reporters at WBZ-TV and New England Cable News. She graduated cum laude with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College.
