Michigan State shakes up coaching staff

    Michigan State made a few coaching changes Thursday afternoon.

    Head coach Mark Dantonio announced that Brad Salem has been promoted to offensive coordinator. Salem has worked under Dantonio for nine seasons. Co-offensive coordinator Dave Warner has been assigned as quarterbacks coach. Jim Bollman will move to coaching the offensive line. Mark Staten will coach the tight ends and special teams coordinator.

    Don Treadwell, who was the Spartans offensive coordinator from 2007-10, will move back to coaching the wide receivers. Terrence Samuel will move into the assistant defensive backs coach. Defensive coordinator Mike Tressel has gained the title of assistant head coach after leading the Spartan defense to the top rushing defense in the country.
