New legislation would ban life sentences for minors in Michigan, some prosecutors oppose

A new package of bills introduced in the Michigan Legislature would no longer allow judges in the state to give life sentences to anyone under the age of 18. It would also make it possible for anyone sentenced for a serious crime as a child to be given the option of parole after ten years. (File/WWMT)
