Detroit police officer shot, two women killed by gunman barricaded in home

5:15 a.m. Detroit Police now say there are two shooters who are believed to be barricaded inside homes next door to one another. It is unclear which is responsible for shooting the officer.


DETROIT, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Detroit Police are at the scene of a barricaded gunman accused of shooting an officer, killing two women and injuring another man.

It all started around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night on the northeast side of the city. Police said they were called for an argument and report of shots fired.

As officers pulled up to the scene, they said the suspect began unloading shots toward them.

One Detroit Police Officer was hit but is expected to be okay. Police said the suspect killed two women and wounded a man.

The suspect has no criminal history and a valid gun license, but neighbors said he has a history of mental illness.
