MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- For the second time in two weeks, U.S. Coast Guard crews helped get medical attention to someone stranded on Mackinac Island.
During a winter storm Thursday night a Mackinac Island resident with a heart condition needed immediate treatment in Petoskey, U.S. Coast Guard crews said.
The crew on the Cutter Alder was able to cut through the ice, get the resident aboard the ship and get them to Petoskey.
The Coast Guard thanked the team work between many groups of first responders that helped get the resident the much needed care.
Another person was taken to a mainland hospital late last month by a Coast Guard crew as well.
