Perrigo donates $650K to Allegan General Hospital for CT scanner

ALLEGAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Perrigo is making a major investment to help improve the quality of healthcare in West Michigan.

The Perrigo Foundation presented a check for $650,000 to Allegan General Hospital for a new CT Scanner.

The equipment provides greater resolution than an x-ray, leading to easier and oftentimes an earlier diagnosis of illnesses such as cancer and heart disease.

"This is exciting for us. This is a real significant enhancement in the quality of care that we'll be able to provide to all of our patients," said Allegan General Hospital President and CEO Jerry Barbini.

It's not the first time Perrigo has given the hospital a sizeable gift.

Six years ago, the company invested $300,000 in the hospital's cancer care and infusion center, as well as helping renovate the hospital's endoscopy suite.

Perrigo's CEO says the foundation's goal is to enhance the health, well-being, and education of families in the community.
