Secretary of Education visits Parkland school today
PARKLAND, Fla. —
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos visited students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in south Florida this morning.
Today marked the first full day of class since a gunman opened fire and killed 17 people last month.
DeVos requested the meeting be private "out of respect" for students and faculty.
Many Parkland students and their families have become nationwide activists in the #NeverAgain movement.
They are calling for increased gun control to prevent another mass shooting at a school.
