Mother pleads guilty to letting 12-year-old get pregnant with 24-year-old man's baby

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The mother of a 12-year-old girl pleaded guilty to enabling the child sex abuse of her daughter.

In 2021, Tulsa police arrested 24-year-old Juan Miranda-Jara after a 12-year-old girl showed up at a hospital pregnant with his child.

Miranda-Jara was arrested for first-degree rape after the young girl gave birth.

Police found that the 12-year-old girl's family was aware of the situation and permitted the illegal relationship.

Investigators reported seeing photos of the family hosting a baby shower for the 12-year-old girl.

The relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara allegedly began in October 2020.

Desiree Castaneda was arrested for child neglect and enabling child sex abuse.

She was sentenced to 15 years in prison, after which she must register as a sex offender.
