A preliminary hearing for Brian Zanetti, accused of killing a Battle Creek businessman, was postponed today because Zanetti was found incompetent to stand trial.

Zanetti was arrested in May following the death of Frank Zanetti, the owner of Battle Creek Tile and Mosaic who was shot in the head May 6.

Police have said the two men are related, but have not said how.

Brian Zanetti was charged with first-degree murder, felony firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police said Frank Zanetti was shot in the head while working inside the shop around 10:30 a.m. that day. Police say the suspect headed directly to Frank, pulled out a handgun and shot him once in the head at point-blank range.

In Calhoun County District Court on Wednesday, authorities reported that a doctor has found Zanetti incompetent. So Judge James Norlander ordered Zanetti to report to a hospital for evaluation.
