EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A fire at a home in Calhoun County overnight leaves one woman in the hospital.
Crews were called to the 200 block of Cherokee Street in Emmett Township for of a fully involved garage fire just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
When they got there the flames had already spread to the house.
We’re told a 60-year-old woman in the house did manage to get out but was seriously burned.
She was first transported to a hospital in Battle Creek before being taken to Bronson in Kalamazoo and is listed in critical condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but firefighters believe it was caused by an electrical short in the garage.
