THREE RIVERS, Mich. - A special light display in Three Rivers is about more than the joy of the holiday season, it tells the story of the very first Christmas.

Organizers told Newschannel 3 they want to brighten the holiday season for people in Three Rivers and beyond.

The River Lights of Wonder is display of Christmas lights along the St. Joseph River that was organized by Riverside Church.

The journey along the river will guide you through the story of the first Christmas, told through lights.

Bonnie Booko, River Lights of Wonder director, created the display as a tribute to one of her childhood memories where her dad took the family on a "treasure hunt" to see beautiful Christmas lights around their community. It was a free way to brighten up the holiday for her struggling family and it's something she wants to pass on to others.

You can experience the light show every Thursday through Sunday in December from 5:30 to 10 p.m. On Saturdays, the drive will be closed to allow people to walk along the river and take in the beauty of the lights up close.

Riverside Church is located at 207 E Michigan Ave in Three Rivers. The show is free and open to everyone.
