Truck plows into house after driver experiences likely medical issue

PORTAGE, Mich. — A truck plowed into a home in Portage on Friday, and tore the patio area off the front of the house.

Portage police said a 63-year-old in a silver pick-up truck was headed east on Centre Street and just before 6:30 p.m. he crossed the westbound lanes and drove into a house on the corner of Garden Lane.

Police said the driver and passenger of the truck were sent to the hospital and the accident was likely caused because of a medical problem.

An elderly woman was watching television and she says the truck came within feet of her.

The family said they have insurance, but are unsure how much that will cover and started a GoFundMe to help rebuild the destroyed area.
