Tree lighting held for Borgess Tree of Love campaign
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
A local holiday display sends an important message about women's health.
Dozens gathered at Ascension Borgess Medical Center to turn on the lights for the annual Tree of Love campaign.
Before the tree lighting ceremony started Thursday, donors raised more than $50,000 to provide free mammograms and other breast health services to patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
The goal is raise $70,000 to help local women get these vital services. They're asking everyone to throw in $8 or more, which can be used to honor a loved one lost to breast cancer.
The tree lighting ceremony was held at 6 p.m. Thursday.
