Marshall rolled out the red carpet on Thursday for the premiere of “The House with a Clock in its Walls."

The City of Marshall felt like Hollywood on Thursday as dozens lined the red carpet to see the long-awaited release of " The House with a Clock in its Walls.” Moviegoers were impressed with what they saw on the silver screen.

Priscilla Bellairs, widow of the author, said, “It's the fabulous fulfillment of 45 years of waiting.”

The Hollywood blockbuster is based on a book written by Marshall native John Bellairs and was inspired by the quirky Jeremiah Cronin house in Marshall.

Priscilla traveled from the West Coast to witnesses the magical movie play in Marshall.

She said, “I felt that all the departures from the book were in the spirit of the movie and John would have loved the special effects.”

The movie stars Kate Blanchett and Jack Black.

Alexander Mathis, an extra in the movie, said, “He was still very whimsical. He's still really funny in real life.”

Mathis, 10, appeared in one scene in the movie as an extra.

He said, “We took 100 takes. It took like 3 hours.”

But any time spent watching this movie seemed well worth it.

If you missed out Thursday, not too worry. There's about 24 more showings over the weekend with a lot of fun events on the schedule in Marshall to celebrate the movie.
