Suspect on the run after robbing victim at gunpoint in Kalamazoo

Police are searching for a suspect they say robbed a victim at gunpoint in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A suspect is on the run after police said he robbed a person at gunpoint in Kalamazoo.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. Friday night in the 400 block of Porter Street near the city's downtown area.

Police said the victim was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a man who indicated he had a gun.

We're told the suspect then ordered the 55-year-old victim to get on the ground and hit him in the face before robbing him.

The suspect took off and dropped the victim's property.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety tried tracking the suspect with a K-9 but they didn't find anyone.

Police are describing the suspect as a black male, about 6 feet tall with a medium build.

He was last seen wearing green-colored overalls, a thin black jacket and a gray ski mask.
