Stolen gun, checks, drugs found during traffic stop in Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two people were arrested after police said they found a stolen gun, drugs and stolen checks during a traffic stop.
Police said they pulled the car over around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson and Linton. During the traffic stop, officers said they saw a loaded handgun on the ground just outside the passenger door that had been tossed out by the man in the passenger seat.
Investigators said that gun was stolen out of Kalamazoo County.
During a search of the vehicle, police said they also found meth and cocaine.
A 25-year-old man from Kalamazoo was arrested for gun, drug and stolen property charges. A 25-year-old woman in the back seat was arrested on two outstanding warrants and possession of cocaine.
The search also led police to discover a number of personal checks, ID's, social security cards and bank cards that did not belong to the woman involved. This case is now under investigation.
