KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A busy Kalamazoo street will be shut down starting Friday as crews work to replace lead pipes throughout the city.

Stockbridge Avenue between Portage and Race Streets will be closed Friday through Wednesday, April 18.

City officials said pedestrian and bicycles routes will not be impacted.

This is part of Kalamazoo's effort to remove every lead water pipe in the city by 2030.

City commissioners approved about $1.6 million for work on several roads last year.
