Special Olympics winter regional games kick off at Bittersweet Ski Area

    Hundreds of athletes will be at Bittersweet Ski Area Tuesday for the Special Olympics Regional Winter Games.

    They will compete in a several events, including snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowboarding and downhill skiing.

    About 200 athletes from southwestern Michigan will compete from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

    This competition qualifies them to compete in the Special Olympics State Winter Games the last week of January.
