Scott Sterffy was ruled incompetent to stand trial by 8th District Court Judge Tiffany Ankley on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

Sterffy faces charges of open murder and mutilating a dead body in relation to the death of his father, Thomas Aye, a Portage oral surgeon.

In August, a judge denied bond for Sterffy.

The search for Sterffy sparked a multi-state manhunt when investigators determined Sterffy had been in Chicago and Seattle since Aye's death.
