Semi driver ticketed after U.S. 131 crash caused by texting and driving
ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. —
Northbound U.S. Route 131 near D Avenue was slowed after a semi rolled after it collided with a car merging into traffic on Friday.
Michigan State Police investigators said the semi driver was texting and collided with a Chevrolet Malibu at 1:45 p.m. as it was merging into traffic from the shoulder. The semi driver lost control and rolled over.
The driver and passenger of the Malibu went to Spectrum Hospital for injuries and the semi driver was taken to Borgess Hospital for injuries.
The semi driver was ticketed for texting while driving.
Just before 4:30 p.m. police reopened all lanes on U.S. 131.
