Portage Public Schools closes some schools due to threat

PORTAGE, Mich. — Portage Public Schools canceled class Tuesday morning at four schools due to a threat, according to the Portage Public Schools website.

Portage Northern High School, North Middle School, Community High and all Curious Kids childcare programs on the Milham campus were all closed for the day, according to community relations manager Michelle Karpinski.

Karpinski said Tuesday morning the district was working with authorities to determine the credibility of this threat again Portage Norther High School students.

The district wrote that they are choosing to use an abundance of caution and will be closing the entire Northern campus for the day while police continue to investigate.
