Police: Man urinated on 5-year-old girl, called her a racial slur

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Rapids police say a man is in the Kent County Jail after he urinated on a five-year-old girl and called her a racial slur.

Officers were called at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday to a home in Grand Rapids, where parents told officers a 60-year-old white man urinated on their black daughter and called her the N-word. Police said two seven-year-old children were also there.

The alleged incident happened in an alley on Leonard Street SW, near Tamarack Avenue NW. Police conducted a forensic investigation at the scene.

The victim's parents provided a description of the suspect. Police went to his home, but he didn't answer the door. A short time later, a neighbor told officers that the suspect returned home and he was arrested on a felony charge.

Police said counseling will be provided to all of the children involved. The Grand Rapids Detective Unit - Family Services Team is investigating.
