Police investigate deadly shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Rapids Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday morning.

Police say it happened Monday around 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Crawford Street southeast. That is where officers say they got a report of gunshots.

When officers arrived on scene, they say they found an adult man laying in the middle of the street with life-threatening injuries from multiple gunshot wounds. We are told no one else was around.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he went through emergency surgery, but he died from his injuries overnight.

The Major Case Team and a K9 officer responded to the scene, but were not able to track a suspect. GRPD tells Newschannel 3 there is no suspect information available at this time.

Police are working to learn why the suspect or suspects and the victim were on Crawford Street Monday night.

The victim's identity will not be released until his family is notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call GRPD or Silent Observer right away.
