Police bust crowded nightclub in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A nightclub party was shut down in Kalamazoo overnight, after police said there were too many people inside.

It happened at a home in the 1000 block of South Burdick Street late Saturday night.

Kalamazoo Public Safety said the homeowner has a permit for operating an after-hours nightclub, but the permit only allows 15 people. Police tell Newschannel 3 there were actually 140 people inside the house when they arrived on scene, which is a safety issue.

It took officers several hours to get everyone out of the home.

Police arrested eight people who had warrants, including one arrest for resisting and obstructing an officer.

The incident is under investigation.
