Plea deal means 30-days in jail for man who hit boy in Marshall at bus stop
MARSHALL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan man accused of hitting a 12-year-old boy while crossing the street to get on his school bus in Marshall is expected to be sentenced Monday.
Last month, Earl Shepherd pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of a moving violation in a school bus zone causing injury.
12-year-old David Newman suffered brain injuries.
As part of a plea agreement, Shepherd will be sentenced to 30 days in jail and placed on probation.
Police say he was driving a pick-up truck when he hit Newman last March.
