PLAINWELL, Mich. — Plainwell Community Schools transitioned to virtual/remoted instruction after the district became aware of several positive COVID-19 cases within the district.
According to a letter from the superintendent, Matthew Montange, eight people had tested positive, 15 were probable, and more than 75 students and staff were asked by the health department to quarantine.
Plainwell Community Schools said students were expected to work from home from Oct. 19 to Nov. 2, 2020.
All programs were cancelled, including SAFE programming, all before and after school activities, all extracurricular and athletic practices and competitions, all weekend events, and all athletic contests were cancelled until Oct. 23, 2020.
Montange said the district would reassess the fall sports season and the SAFE program on Oct. 23, 2020 to reevaluate reopening them.
Montange asked that parents continue monitoring their children, and contact the student's school office if the student developed symptoms.
