Perrigo donates $25,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters to support mentoring in Allegan County
The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation held a check ceremony Friday to donate $25,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The funding will stay within Allegan County to support multiple initiatives, including the Bigs in Business mentor program.
"We'll serve over 80 kids in Allegan County this year, and the funding we receive will go a long way in our ability to make the matches and sustain and support them so they can be successful," said Amy Kuchta, Big Brothers Big Sisters chief executive officer.
The ceremony took place at Allegan Alternative High School, where Perrigo employees regularly mentor highs school students. Students also visit Perrigo's North American headquarters, located in Allegan, once per month to learn professional life skills.
Kutcha said she hopes to see the program and partnership with the company to continue to grow, possibly even doubling the number of students served next year.
"We'd love to expand this program, serve more kids. The sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned," she said.
