A woman has died in two-car crash near the Calhoun County line in Burlington Township
A woman died and another person was injured and sent to the hospital after two cars collided near the intersection of Eight Mile Road and U Drive South in Burlington Township.
The intersection is near the Calhoun County Line, just north of Union City.
Calhoun County emergency teams responded to the crash about 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018. County officials said the crash occurred after the driver of a black van swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the road. That swerve sent the van into the opposite lane of traffic. The black van then crashed head-on into a white van. The crash occurred in a curve of the road.
The driver of the white van, a woman, 66 from Union City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the black van is a 33-year-old man from Battle Creek.
Calhoun County Deputies were assisted by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi and Burlington Township Fire Department.
