VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — Multiple agencies are warning West Michigan motorists to use extreme caution on roadways as conditions continue to deteriorate in the midst of a winter weather advisory that's sweeping the western part of the state.
Michigan State Police are advising motorists use caution in their afternoon commute as both Van Buren and Kalamazoo County officials are responding to several crashes. MSP said in a release to consider alternate routes home and allowing "ample travel time to safely reach their destinations."
Van Buren County's dispatch page is advising motorists avoid Interstate 94 between Mattawan and Hartford as they respond to "multiple traffic events."
Coloma Township Police Department said via their Facebook they are responding to numerous accidents both eastbound and westbound between Coloma and Benton Harbor. Accidents are being reported on I-94 and I-196.
