Power restored after morning outage affects nearly 2,000 customers

UPDATE: As of 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, power has been restored to the affected areas.


UPDATE: Indiana Michigan Power said they hope to have the power restored to all customers by 12:30 p.m.


A power outage has knocked out power for close to 2000 customers.

The outage covers much of Schoolcraft and spreads east to Vicksburg.

Indiana and Michigan Power Company's outage map shows 1,867 customers without power.

Tracy Warner with Indiana Michigan Power said the outage happened around 11 a.m. He said a circuit breaker tripped a substation offline, and a crew is responding.

Warner said it will take time to determine what happened. There is no current estimate on when power will be back online.
