Multiple crashes shut down road in Schoolcraft

SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A number of crashes shut down W Avenue in Schoolcraft early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say it is happened on W Avenue near 16th Street just east of downtown Schoolcraft.

The South County Fire Department tells Newschannel 3 there are three crashes in that stretch of road. Two cars both went off the road and one car went into a tree.

Firefighters say at least one person was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. No one was injured in the other two crashes.

Our crew on scene says roads in the area are very slick and there is solid black ice in some areas.

W Avenue is now back open after being closed for about an hour while crews investigated. Stay with Newschannel 3 for updates.
