Reenactment enthusiasts rejoice! Members of Kalamazoo's chapter of the Society of Creative Anachronism, also known as the Canton of Three Hills, gathered at the Kalamazoo Expo Center Saturday for a day of fencing, arts, sciences and shopping.

The event dubbed the Tournament of Chivalry & St. Valentine's Day Massacre stretched throughout the afternoon and brought steel-clad members of the society together to tout their talents in the ring, as medieval fencing and rapier fighting was the premier talent showcased.

"This is what keeps me sane, being able to come out here and blow off the steam.," Fred Stillman said.

According to the group's website, the Kalamazoo sector of the SCA started in 1971.

"It's a nice step away from the modern world. It's nice to put on different clothes and have a different name and forget about my job," Wendy Martin-Glick said. "Some of my very best friends are a part of this organization and have been for years and years, so it's the people and the love of history that keeps us all coming back."
