MDOT to repave U.S. 131 through downtown Kalamazoo this summer
Starting Monday, drivers heading to downtown Kalamazoo will need to expect lane closures.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has begun repaving parts of the U.S.131 Business Route, North Westnedge Avenue and North Park Street, from Michigan Avenue to Hopkins Street.
This $900,000 investment will include sidewalk reconstruction and pedestrian detours. MDOT officials said the work will extend the life of the roadway and improve ride quality, walkability and safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August, and will include weekend and nighttime work.
