Mattawan resident Darryl Crapo sent to prison for 2-7 years on child pornography plea
A Mattawan man will spend the next two to seven years in prison after pleading guilty in Van Buren County Circuit Court to child pornography charges.
Darryl Crapo, 49, was arraigned on the charges in May, after police found images of child porn on electronic devices in his home. Michigan State Police said investigators found large amounts of child sexually abusive material being downloaded, and distributed.
Crapo pleaded guilty in July to three felony counts of distributing or promoting child sexually abusive activity. In exchange for his plea, three counts of child sexually abusive activity, three counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of using a computer to commit a crime were dismissed, according to court records.
Michigan State Police's Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit was assisted by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office and the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department in the investigation.
