Man shot in leg after car stolen in Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Kalamazoo Public Safety is trying to piece together what sparked a shooting and car theft.
Police said they were called to Charles Avenue near East Main Street in Kalamazoo around 10:30 p.m. Friday. When they got there, officers said they found a 26-year-old man from Kalamazoo with a gunshot wound to the leg.
He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
The victim told police his car was stolen at gunpoint during a confrontation, and he was shot in the lower leg. Police said they found the car a few blocks away, with no one inside.
An investigation is underway into exactly what happened. KDPS said several suspects were involved, but they only have a limited description for one of them. He is described as a light-skinned black male in his teens, with hazel eyes, brown hair, and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. Police said the suspects sped away in a silver vehicle.
