Man rushed to emergency surgery after shooting on Battle Creek's northwest side

A 19-year-old Battle Creek man went into emergency surgery Saturday afternoon after being shot by an unknown suspect in a parking lot in the city's northwest side, according to a sergeant with Battle Creek Police Department.

Officers with BCPD responded to the 100 block of Arbor Pointe Drive at approximately 2:30 p.m. and found a 19-year-old victim who had been shot, according to Sgt. Nicholas Woolman. Although initial reports stated the victim was shot three times, Woolman said the victim was shot once.

The man was rushed to emergency surgery and is listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police don't have an available description for the suspect, who is still at-large.
