Man arrested in Kalamazoo for stealing gardening equipment from local business

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A wanted man in Kalamazoo is arrested after police said they caught him stealing from a local business.

Kalamazoo Public Safety said an officer was walking around on patrol near East Michigan Avenue and Portage Street when they spotted a suspect stealing gardening equipment from a local business.

The suspect then took off on a bike toward North Church and Random Street, and then disappeared.

Police called in K9 Axl, who has only been with the department for two months.

Axl found the suspect behind a nearby home, according to KDPS.

A 39-year-old man from Kalamazoo was arrested without incident. Police said they discovered he was wanted on a parole warrant and is now facing additional charges of larceny and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
