Man arrested after police find marijuana, loaded handgun in car

A Kalamazoo man is in jail after police find marijuana and a handgun inside the car he's riding in.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man is in jail after police pull over a vehicle and find a loaded handgun and marijuana inside.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. Friday night in the area near South Park Street and Park Place.

When officers pulled the car over for a traffic violation, the driver admitted to have marijuana on him.

A search of the vehicle was then conducted where police found a loaded handgun under the passenger seat.

The 19-year-old passenger, a Kalamazoo resident, admitted to possessing the gun which was not registered to him and he didn't have a concealed weapons permit.

The man was arrested and taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail. He had been out on bond for previous charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Assault.

The driver of the car was released. He could be facing possible charges for Possession of Marijuana.
