A graduating senior from Kalamazoo's Loy Norrix High School convinced 25 of his classmates to sign a petition, pledging not to text and drive.

Isaac Moss received an award Tuesday from "Fathers Against Distracted Driving" for his efforts. He said he's seen plenty of fender benders due to texting and driving just in his own high school parking lot.

"So a lot of people were straight up saying that they do text and drive and they don't wanna change that, which shocked me. Because it's something that will affect your future at some point. It's gonna catch up with you at some point," Moss said.

Two more Loy Norrix students are also close to getting 25 of their classmates to pledge not to text and drive.

"A teacher can say a million times don't text and drive, and some students will follow, but when it's your peers telling you that, trying to convince you of that and it's much more powerful," said Chris Aguinaga, principal of Loy Norrix High School.
