KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Residents of a local memory care facility celebrated the release of their new video.
Dean Solden, founder of New Friends Memory Care, said the goal of the project was to destigmatize memory loss illnesses.
The heartwarming and powerful film featured a number of people with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
"We wanted not just to give people care, we wanted them to have a life. And we knew that even in their last few years of life, they can still have a vibrant life and make a meaningful contributions around you," he said.
Local leaders and community members alike packed the Jolliffe Theater in downtown Kalamazoo for the group's video premier, called "Don't Define Me, Just Remind Me."
