KVET surveillance leads to gun, drug arrest of Kalamazoo man
PORTAGE, Mich. —
A 36-year-old Kalamazoo man wanted on felony warrants and skipping parole was arrested with several guns and drugs.
The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) investigators surveilled the man on Monday after a tip of drug robberies and followed him to a house in the 4800 block of East Milham Avenue in Portage. The man was seen leaving the house, got into a vehicle and KVET moved in.
Investigators said the man reached for his waistband before he was pulled from the vehicle and arrested. Police said a .45 caliber handgun was found in his waistband.
A search was conducted and police said they found a loaded .357 caliber handgun, a handgun frame, ammunition, a substance police suspect is meth, stolen property and evidence of other criminal activity.
The man was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail for the five felony warrants and will face additional charges of felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of methamphetamine.
