KSO youth programs selected as grant recipient


KALAMAZOO, MIch. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra youth programs have been selected as a 2017-2018 Carnegie Hall Play USA grant recipient.

KSO’s Kids in Tune and Orchestra Rouh are one of 13 organizations to be selected for the special grant.

The Play USA Network is committed to increasing access to instrumental music instruction for underserved students, kindergarten through 12th grade, nationwide.

In addition to financial support, participants will receive consultation services with Carneigie Hall staff.

Kalamazoo Kids in Tune is a daily, after-school orchestra immersion program offered in collaboration with communities in schools of Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo Public Schools.

Orchestra Rouh is a free, year-around music program serving children of refugee families recently resettled in Kalamazoo.
