Kalamazoo Police witness drive-by shooting; suspects chased to dead-end street
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
A shooting in the streets led to a drive-by shooting and police chase in Kalamazoo on Wednesday.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were called to Ada Street and Woodbury Street around 3:15 p.m. to a report of shots fired, but didn't find anyone.
Minutes later, the suspects re-appeared.
KDPS Lt. David Thomas said, “We had an officer actually on scene watching the area. The shots were actually made right in front of him. At that point, we initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop."
The officer chased the drive-by shooters south to a dead end off of Stockbridge Avenue.
Police say two men tried to run away, but were quickly arrested along with a third man who was in the van.
All of them face multiple weapons charges.
Police say they haven't found anyone who was hurt in the shootings.
