Portage police have confirmed that Christopher Lockhart is dead
PORTAGE, Mich. — 5:45 PM UPDATE
Portage police said they are investigating Christopher Lockhart's death as a possible suicide.
Officers entered his home on Poplar Bluff Drive just before 11 a.m. to check on his welfare. Lockhart had missed a 10 a.m. report time and his tether had indicated no movement for several hours.
The officers found Lockhart dead in the home.
Detectives are investigating the death, as well as seeking additional information that might assist in the location of Lockhart's wife, Theresa, who has been missing since May, police said in the written statement release just moments ago.

Portage police confirmed just moments ago that Christopher Lockhart is dead.
Police have been at Lockhart's Popular Bluff Drive home most of the afternoon, and told Newschannel 3 just moments ago that Lockhart is dead.
In a written statement, police said they went to the house this afternoon on a welfare check. Lockhart had missed a 10 a.m. appointment, and his tether indicated that he had not moved in several hours.

4:30 PM UPDATE
Lockhart is a person of interest in his wife’s possible murder, it’s been five months since his wife Theresa has been seen.
Newschannel 3 Investigative Reporter Cody Combs reports in front of the Lockhart home.
Several Portage Police vehicles here right now near Lockhart’s home on Poplar Bluff Drive.
Neighbors said they first noticed police near his home around noon on Tues., and they said they saw an EMT vehicle, as well.
This has happened in the past, police making what they call routine checks, but this is different, because police have set up a perimeter and are not allowing anyone near the house.
They are still going inside and outside the home, carrying several items with them, the Crime Lab is on scene, but there’s no sign of Chris Lockhart.
Lockhart was last seen on Saturday, according to neighbors, and last week Lockhart left the state to attend his father’s funeral.
Portage Police said they’ll be sending out a news release soon, and that we should be expecting a possible update later.
It has been five months since his wife, Theresa, has been seen by anyone.
Lockhart has been described as uncooperative in the police investigation of the disappearance of Theresa.

Several vehicles and officers are staged around the home, and have been for several hours, but police have declined to reveal why they set up the perimeter.
The Portage Police Crime Lab is on the scene and officers have closed off Poplar Bluff Drive.
Lockhart is a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Theresa.
She was last seen May 18 leaving a Zumba class at the Family Fitness Center in Portage. Two days later, when she didn't show up for work, the Schoolcraft superintendent reported her missing.
