KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo police said Tuesday they were investigating a car found in the Kalamazoo River near Homer Stryker Field.
In a written statement, officers said a caller had noticed the roof of the car in the water, but couldn't see if anyone was inside. Nobody in Riverfront Park had seen the car go into the water, and nobody knew how long it had been there.
Kalamazoo officers arrived around 9:51 a.m. They called a Kalamazoo Public Safety water rescue boat to pull the car out of the water, and found that nobody was inside.
They said the car had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
There were no injuries and no suspects, and the officers hoped the city's surveillance cameras might have footage of what happened.
