Kalamazoo homes without power after crash

9 AM UPDATE: Consumer's Energy is reporting that as many as 200 homes are still without power, but restoration is expected by 10 a.m.


The lights went out in a Kalamazoo neighborhood overnight after a crash.

It happened on Douglas Avenue at Ogden Avenue near Alamo Avenue around 12 a.m. Friday.

Police told our crew on scene this was a minor crash into a pole.

Consumers Energy reports more than 120 customers are without power because of a "car/pole accident" according to their website. Originally, there were 1,200 in the dark when the outage was first reported.

Crews on scene told Newschannel 3 the estimated restoration time would be 6:30 a.m. but Consumers Energy has 8:30 a.m. Friday listed on their outage map.
