KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Community Foundation observed "Giving Tuesday" by throwing a party designed to raise funds for local outreach and public service programs.
Organizers said the event, held at Xperience by LuXury Escapes in downtown Kalamazoo, was a chance to think globally but act locally on "Giving Tuesday's" 10th anniversary.
Party goers were treated to food, drinks, and music while being encouraged to give to the "Love where you Live" Unrestricted Fund.
Sharayl Moore, Kalamazoo Community Foundation development officer, said the funds raised by the foundation directly impact families in Kalamazoo County.
"The 'Love Where You Live' funds really support our community in housing, education, economic development." Moore said, "We also support health and healthcare needs in the community as well as scholarships and other needs that out community members have because the mission of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation is to make Kalamazoo County the most equitable place to live."
Moore said all funds raised by the Kalamazoo Community Foundation fund local programs, grants, and scholarships.
