2:40 P.M. UPDATE

The investigation of the death of a 2 1/2-month-old found unresponsive Sunday has closed after determining that the cause was a medical issue, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a child.

Deputies were spotted at a home in the 3300 block of Comstock Village Lane near East H Avenue and Sprinkle Road in Comstock Township around 8 p.m. Sunday.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office says Nalani Faye-Lynn Pawlowski, 2 1/2 months old, was pronounced dead after a medical call to the home.

"Anytime you're dealing with any sort of death investigation it's very traumatic to the family," Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Baker said. "Our detectives and investigators who investigate these crimes take those factors into consideration so it's very sensitive in how they have to speak with family to try and elicit information."

Deputies also said there were other children in the home, and that the state Department of Protective Services is now involved.
