Hit-and-run suspect involved in second crash

Hit-and-run suspect involved in second crash.

A 23-year-old Plainwell man suspected of a hit and run was involved in a second crash in Portage.

Witnesses told Portage police that a silver Lincoln drove away after it was involved in an accident with a motorcycle at the intersection of Lovers Lane and East Centre Avenue just before 7 p.m. Thursday.

Police were sent to a second crash at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Romence Road and Sears Drive after police said a silver Lincoln ran a red light and crashed into a 75-year-old Kalamazoo woman.

Police said the license plate of the Lincoln, driven by a 23-year-old Plainwell man, matched the plate from the second crash. Witnesses of the hit-and-run crash had been able to provide the plate number.

Both wrecks are under investigation and all people involved were sent to the hospital. Police believe the 23-year-old was on drugs.
